best bang for the buck hp mods
I was looking for a high mileage 05-06 MCS to build a RMW stroker but might be picking up an 06 JCW instead! The car is low mileage so its gonna get driven some miles and some stuff has got to break or blow up before motor gets swapped with a stroker.
In the meantime, what are the best bang for the buck mods to boost horsepower? I dont mind spending some bucks on the suspension, but don't want to buy parts that will not be needed once stroked.
smaller pulley, colder plugs, bigger injectors, RMW tune?

this question been answered many times...
pulley, CAI, Exaust (one ball is cheap) for the $
Injectors and header, cam do lots, but get less bang for the buck...poerted head same boat, but can be combined to get some real hp...no "stoker" needed.
And if you are talking bang for the buck and stoker in the same post...LOL

yeah, I know bang for the buck mods and "stroker" do not go together. The stroker is for later, when things break or blow up, and if that doesnt happen then it will be a separate project.
but that is why i dont want to go overbored with things like a head and cam, if wont be able to use them later. not sure what pulley size is in JCW but could change to smaller size, dont really want to change out intake and exhaust because they are JCW.

The jcw kit on the gen1 car is pretty mild....you can get the same or better performance with aftermarket items for a fraction of the cost...
That and gen1 jcw performance items are getting pretty rare...
For performance the changes were
on pre 2005 cars...coated sc (standard on all cars after 2005)
A smaller pulley...about a 12% reductiin
an exaust
A mildly cnc ported head (very mild to stress)
Post 2005 jcw cars with the jcw 210 kit got the above
Plus an CAI, 380' INJECTORS, AND SOFTWARE FOR THE INJECTORS. 2005+ cars also had recised gearing to make the quicker.
Since all 2005 cars tge coated sc, a pulley makes any newer s with the coating about the same, with a cai, and a exaust...
When you add a header, injectors and custom tune, maybe a cam, you can get MORE HP THAN A JCW FOR FEWER $$$. ADD A PORTED HEAD...WOW!! BIG $$, BIG GAIN.
Very few stroker mini,s around...not much of a reason.

Factory levels of relalibility, fit and finish...
it is a nice intergrated car, factory look, and a good starting point, but like many things, aftermarket had more performance per $$ spent.
