Mini Cooper Seat belt holder?

I purchased these seat belt holders from the Mini dealership, it is supposed to hold the belt up so you wont have to search for it as it falls down beside the seat. What a piece of JUNK! It states... These holders are break away holders meaning if there is to much tension on them they will separate at the joint as they are designed to do this instead of break in half. Don't waste your money on these, i installed them in about 5 min and spent about the same time looking for the break away piece out from under my seat.

THey may be pulled at this point, but there was 2 different part numbers that these had. Cant seem to find my records as to what I ordered.

First set was junk, the broke free everytime you pulled the seatbelt forward to buckle. Heard here that the new revised model was better. Tried those and they still suck.

My hubby grabs hold of the seat belt before closing the car door. I tried to get him to get in the habit of looping the seat belt over the side of the seat when he got out of the car each time, which would make it easier, but he forgets. The dealer also told us that the seat belt holders were useless, and advised us not to buy them.

Seat belt holder

I did not see your post before I bought this POS. You are definitely correct. The seat belt holder falls apart when you attempt to install the seat belt. Total junk. Returning them for a refund. I am dissappointed that Mini would distribute such a useless product. Good concept, though.

+1 on seat belt pad! I got mine off ebay for 8dollars including shipping to South Africa :D . It has a mini cooper emblem and "Cooper S" in text. Best cheapskate item I've purchased yet!

+1 Exactly what I'm doing in my Coupe as well. The seats should come with some sort of seat belt holder stock. Especially in a Coupe, where there's limited gap between seat and a B pillar.

any pics or links for the seatbelt pad? I am trying to envision how it would help hold the seat belt in an easier to reach spot once you get in and sit down. many thx!

My '10 Camaro had a leather strap with a snap on it to hold the seat belt on the top outside corner of the seat or else it would also fall back into the abyss. That would be nice to have.

All I do is slide the little black piece behind the buckle all the way up to the buckle so that it holds it to the side where it is easy to reach. Also i took my back ones out since I don't use them.

Got Them to Work

I bought these a month or so ago despite the bad reviews, to see if I could make them work. Well sure enough the two pieces come apart pretty easy when the belt is pulled.

So I cleaned the two connecting parts and put some CA on each part glued them together with some thin CA glue (super glue) and let them dry. It probably defeats the safety function of having them break away in a crash but I did it anyway. They are not coming apart.

One downside is that the don't fold up when you move the seat forward so you have to take the belt out for that. But I rarely use the back seat so it works for me, YMMV.

I recently bought these things for my Paceman. Garbage! They keep breaking away. I am inclined to try the superglue method that was mentioned above for a fix. Any one else have have success with that?

I hate the belt and or slider thing getting wedged between seat and door, I got several dents from it getting stuck.

Another case of bean counters running business.

Someone here came up with an idea, he used a pair of holders from a Chevy, I can't remember which.

Or an upholstery shop should be able to do something like this as well

I think we need to be CAREFUL as to what we do because there is a air bag in that location, don't want airbag to turn seatbelt into a tourniquet

to be fair, my seat belt holder works perfectly fine without glue or lube except the odd moment when the car goes to the dealer and mechanics taller than me put the seat backwards and its snapped. theres a sweet spot for that holder to work just fine. To aft or rear will snap them.

Hey there, that was me up there posting in April last year after I used CA glue on them. Can't believe it has been a year already...but I digress.

A year later and they are still holding together no problem. I don't think I could get them apart without ruining one of the "tab" parts that lock into place on the swivel post.

Cool! You convinced me; I am going to do the same.
