Any 'old school' mesh wheels for mini?

Looking for some mesh wheels that resemble what the VW's from the 80's had, which was mesh with a lip. I can only find some mesh wheels in 5 lug and no leads on a 4 lug. Or if I 'custom' order them, it'd be like $1000+ a wheel, and well.. they're just wheels. Just looking to see if there are any 'replicas' that could be had for cheap.

Sorry if my word descriptions are no good, but heres some random eye candy I found for good measure.

You're not talking about wire spoke rims, are you?

If you are, there's an ad currently in MC2 magazine, showing true wire wheels on a new MINI.

I guess I could be, I never really knew what they were called. I'll have to see if I can find a copy of the mag then. :D

nah, the wire spokes listed in the mag are very old school jag E-type style wire wheels - not BBS mesh style like you are looking for.

FWIW: The 1995 Miata M came with a BBS rim in 15" very similar to what you posted above. Rare, but it would be a 4 x 100 pattern and I think that the offset is close (not sure)

Don't know if you are into 15", but the old school wheels were all a lot smaller....

good luck!

Nice wheel...

I'm with Nics, if anyone made an inexpensive knock-off of the BBS wheel for the MINI that's what I'd be running. I thought the Miata OEM BBS wheels were 14", not 15", but I could be wrong. I do know there aren't many that come up for sale and most fetch over $500/set.

1993 LE (black with red int): 14" BBS
1995 M (merlot with tan): 15: BBS, same style.

Either way, both are silly rare. The 14" rims are pretty sought after - one of the lightest rims for the miata in stock autocross class....

cheers!

These are practically the only ones available anymore:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Konig...spagenameZWDVW

Check out my thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...konig+remember

The SSR mesh wheels are sweet, too, but they are out of production and most 4 lugs you'll find are 4x114.4 for toyotas and datsuns.

Don't have a pic of them handy, but currently have the 15" BBS basketweaves from my old 325iX on the MCS. 4x100 bolt pattern, hub is < 1mm off perfect. Probably pricy to find, but nice thing is they have a et41 offset

I have a set of these own my 920. They are BBS RS three piece gold with polished lip. Mine are circa 1984 and are 8in wide. Idon't know the offset. The car is a daily driver year-round. Affter 22 yr they are stil sweet. BBs pulled them from the market about 10+ years ago. Three pc rims are a poor choice for the street. They tend to leak and BBS gbecame tire of complaints about leaking race rims used by the unknowing as a street rim. Several levels of silacone (sp) finally cured the leaking.

several cars had knock offs Pontiac, BMW and many others. I also found BBS's japan site that showed a 3pc look-a-like for home market only. I don't read Jp so I couldn't get much info. Perhaps you could get a center from them in the correct bolt pattern.

Good luck. in general I don't care for gold rims ... but on the black 928 they are stunning. Even after 22Yr. of use.

Please let me know what you decid to do and how it came out.

Konig makes some cheap knockoff BBS look alikes, either black or gold centers. 16x7 not too bad looking, for a fake 2 piece.

Ding, we might have a winner!!!!!
size = 16x7
PCD = 4x100
OFFSET = 38
Finish = black / gold

What do you guys think? I don't know anything about offsets. Konig's website says it'll fit on the Coopers.

As I said I have a set of BBs 3pc. Unless you are hung up on the idea that you have to have the "real thing"; save your money and get the Konig's. Few know the difference, and they lok great. Mime were on the car when I got it. Trust me 3 pcs rimsw are easily damage, replcement parts are non-existant, and they are very difficult to seal. They were designed for the track were these promlems are easily cared for. I would never buy another set of 3 pcs rims if 2 or 1 pcs were available. You will be much happier. If you have any questions pm me if you wish.

Thanks for the response.

Wheels are wheels to me. Yeah, I guess I'd be called a "poser" or whatever for having replica wheels, but I don't really want to spend 1/4th of what I bought my car at, on wheels. Plus, I drive my little Cherise everywhere as she's my only car so I don't want to have to worry about curbing or potholes as much. I guess I'll get onto asking/calling around for a quote on the wheels when I get the time.

Edit: I did a random google search and found them for $140.00/wheel.

I think that is the right move. You get the same look, save money, and the wheels look damn fine. I'm only glad that I could help. Keep in touch.

Yea, u can put some MINI center cap stickers on those and no one would know they weren't the BBSs. Or a set of BBS Center dome caps if u really want to get them to be true knockoffs!: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BBS-W...em230027967943

Here's a rough chop on my car with the gold. Black would look better I think but I couldn't get a good pic of the black to use:

The current auction has 4 gold wheels for $489 ($122 ea) and I have never seen anyone out bid that price while I've been watching these for the last few months. He also has buy it now auctions for $649, but if u call and say u want the black, I'm sure he would do them at the $489 price. $70 ship.
